Labour Migration and Dislocation in India’s Silicon Valley

The migrant families who build India’s cities do so to meet practical and ritual aspirations rooted in the village, undergoing spatial temporal fragmentation maintain rural longevity possibilities of time. This article contributes an alternative position linear-framed presumptions migration urbanity, illustrating instead how everyday experiences dislocation can be productive through labor, timespace, imagination; bridging gulf between residence on urban construction sites Bengaluru, southern India, desired village homes. However, lived remain stratified by gender class, leading highly conjugated precarity, mobility, possibility. Despite ambivalence felt women girls as a result, shared experience enables entire undertake grueling yet regenerative work circular migration, ensuring continuation renewal life time its incompleteness.
